ABOUT US
SHARED SKILLS - Members of the OPC have different areas of expertise in outdoor education and a variety of other fields. Together we can pool these skills to offer you the best possible service through careful selection of the most relevant co-operative member/members for your event.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE - Within the group we have members that are highly skilled and can offer technical advice across a broad range of adventure disciplines and also in other areas such as HSE, roped access etc. Together we can supply a 'one stop shop' service to any adventure centre and to industry.
CONSISTENCY AND QUALITY OF DELIVERY - We undertake peer group training on a regular basis and we are each others first choice when looking for sessional staff to cover our own larger group bookings. We see each other train, work and sometimes we get out to play too. We know that each member of the group works to the same safe standards and so by working side by side we guarantee consistency and quality of delivery, no matter how large or small your group may be.
PEER GROUP TRAINING - Each year we take part in a few days of training from site specific days to more generic sessions. Sometimes these training days fill the gap left by the National Governing Body Awards, such as relevant water rescue. Site specific training becomes an integral part of all co-operative members risk assessments. Other training sessions are simply skill building days, utilising our technical experts to bring on those in the co-operative who wish to broaden their skill base.
PEER GROUP REVIEW OF THE YEAR - This simple idea, to get together once each year, at the end of the season, to share accident and incident information is the single most important development that we have initiated. There has never been a forum for a size-able group of commercial providers to share this information. Without a large amount of data trends are very difficult to spot. It is good news that since the first meeting in December 2005 we have spotted no trends, any accidents and incidents being 'one offs'.
ENVIRONMENT - WE are committed to care for the outdoors and have developed ways of working that protect the environment from unreasonable and unnecessary damage. We choose sites to work in that can sustain the level of adventurous activity that is inherent in group work.
We will continue to commit to training, development and best practice. We hope that these practices demonstrate the Outdoor Professionals Co-operative commitment to excellence.
