27th January 2012 - Caving Instructor Improver Day *
There have been a number of recent requests for a training day to look at the range of opportunities the Sychryd Gorge offers working with groups. This day will cover a wide range of Group Challenges that can be offered and will deal with safe and environmentally friendly working methods. The day will be delivered by Gary Evans, who is a CIC and a Technical Advisor for this site for a number of organisations.
9th March 2012 - Gorge Walking Training Day *
There have been a number of recent requests for a training day to look at the range of opportunities the Sychryd Gorge offers working with groups. This day will cover a wide range of Group Challenges that can be offered and will deal with safe and environmentally friendly working methods. The day will be delivered by Gary Evans, who is a CIC and a Technical Advisor for this site for a number of organisations.
18th May 2012 - Coasteering Instructor Training Day *
We will be undertaking formal Coasteering Training for all OPC Staff in line with the new National Guidelines for Coasteering and the new NARS syllabus. Training will include one of the sites used by OPC and site sign-off will therefore be included. All attending will be awarded an OPC Site Specific Certificate for this training. The day will be delivered by OPC Technical Advisors with input from external specialists.

28th January 2011 - Caving Instructor Improver Day
This session is intended to enhance the knowledge of participants with regard to caves, caving and leading groups underground. It will enable all participants to be fully conversant with the cave sites chosen and be able to provide a tailored day for all types of groups. This is a skills builder day for both trainee and qualified Caving Instructors. The day will be delivered by Gary Evans, CIC.

19th August 2011 - Surfing & Body Boarding
This day, led by a Surf Coach and Beach Lifeguard, looks at the delivery of a taster surf and body board session, including best practice, choice of beaches and sea conditions. The day is designed for other discipline Outdoor Instructors to confidently lead a body boarding session on a life guard monitored beach and to assist a surf coach with delivery of surfing. Outdoor Instructors attending will gain a peer group signed certificate of competency.
16th September 2011 - Climbing Instructor Improver Day *
If you're working towards your SPA, or are an old hand looking to refresh skills and add something new to your approach, then this is the workshop for you. We'll be looking at all aspects of teaching climbing, from technical skills to ways to add interest and variety to your sessions, whatever it is that you want covered. The day will be delivered by Matt Woodfield, an experienced local climber and instructor.
14th Ocotber 2011 - Mountain Bike Instructor Training *
Running Mountain Bike sessions for Groups in a safe and enjoyable way can be difficult to achieve. A day looking at delivery methods, venues and routes, safety and emergency procedures, plus how to get the most from Mountain Biking with groups. The day will be delivered by Andy Lamb, who has been delivering mountain biking in the Brecon Beacons for more than 15 years.
25th November 2011 - Archery Instruction
The Grand National Archery Society offer Instructor training but for many this goes well beyond their needs, as effectively this is a club coaching qualification and not aimed at those delivering a half day taster session. Andrew Lamb, a GNAS qualified Instructor who has been offering archery for ten years will deliver this day which focuses on how to run a professionally delivered, safe and fun archery session. Outdoor instructors attending will gain a peer group signed certificate of competency.

Meet at Dinas at 10.00am. A day of climbing techniques and approaches to add variety to your climbing sessions and give you some new delivery approaches. The day will be delivered by Matt Woodfield, an experienced local climber who is SPA qualified and MIA trained.
19th July 2010 - 1st Aid Refresher and Upskilling
Three years between First Aid refreshers is a long time. This one day course will refresh some key aspects of First Aid knowledge and also look at some more advanced techniques that can be used in remote environments. The day will be run by Gary Evans, a Cave Rescue Advanced First Aid course Trainer/Assessor.
27th August 2010 - Mountain Leaders Imnprover Day
An opportunity to refresh ML and WGL skills and to consider ways to maximise a day in the Hills and Mountains with your Groups. The day will include a skills review, historical and environmental knowledge uplift, as well as being tailored to those attending. The course will be delivered by Steffan Davies, ML & WGL
